Does Lotion Clog Pores?

!±8± Does Lotion Clog Pores?

If you use lotion and get clogged pores frequently, you probably wonder whether the lotion is clogging your pores. If you think lotion is clogging your pores, you may want to rule out other potential causes first. Sweating profusely could be causing your pores to clog, and your environment may be at fault as well. Or it could be one or more ingredients in the lotion. Regardless of what may be causing them to clog, choosing the right skin care routine could eliminate your problem.

Living in a hot, high-humidity environment could have a profound effect on your skin. In hot, high-humidity environments, people tend to sweat a lot. When this happens, the sweat usually stays on the face, failing to evaporate because of the high content of moisture in the living space. With the sweat on your face for long periods of time, your pores can clog.

Installing a dehumidifier to reduce the humidity down to approximately 45 percent is one way of reducing the moisture content in your living space. You can also use air conditioning to reduce the humidity.

Besides sweating a lot from high humidity, applying a moisturizer or lotion with petroleum-based ingredients causes your pores to clog. Look for liquid paraffin, paraffin wax, petrolatum, and mineral oil on the labels. All these substances represent petroleum-based ingredients. In addition to clogging your pores, such substances interfere with your skin's ability to eliminate toxins, stripping your skin of its natural oils with long-term use. This causes dryness and premature aging.

Avoid lotions with petroleum-based ingredients. These substances only coat your skin, preventing your pores from breathing. Instead, use anti-aging creams or lotions without toxic ingredients. These types of creams and lotions do not use mineral oil or other petroleum substances. Such products use ingredients for stimulating collagen and elastin, such as those that penetrate the layers of your skin, causing it to moisturize properly.

I personally use anti-aging creams by a New Zealand company. This company uses ingredients that cannot be found in skin care products anywhere. Since I've been using these skin care products, I've noticed a big difference in my skin. It no longer feels greasy, and it looks radiant. Even better, I no longer get pimples. Unlike before, I might get one every now and then. And that's only when I'm lacking sleep or feeling stressed.
